About Us:
California Nature Treks & Team Adventures is a dynamic company with a reputation for great service, high-quality, innovative programs, environmental values, and a friendly, professional staff. Our events are full-service programs, ranging in length from several hours to five days, designed as stand-alone programs or to accompany corporate or private meetings, off-sites or retreats.
California Nature Treks was started by Alvin Kernan in 1998 after he spent time in Australia and South America learning about ecotourism and outdoor education, and the ways in which they can benefit individuals and society. We believe that exposing guests to the beauty of our natural world through recreational and educational group activities is one of the best ways to invigorate the body and mind, while also strengthening our bonds with each other and our environment.
Now in our 13th year, we have grown from a one-person operation to a team of ten, including naturalists, team building facilitators and wilderness and adventure skills instructors.
Our mission is to provide stimulating recreational and educational programs that expose participants to California’s awe-inspiring and fascinating places as well as the wonder and beauty of the natural world while promoting camaraderie and teamwork.
Our primary goals are:
- To provide innovative and invigorating outdoor programs that increase our awareness of the environment and ourselves.
- To promote emotional and intellectual ties to our special parks and wilderness areas through inspiration, education and recreation.
- To contribute to the protection and preservation of our wildlife and natural areas through education, volunteer activism and direct grants.
